The Polaris Network, a significant entity in the international sports media sector, has broadened its reach in Latin America through the purchase of AlAireLibre.cl, a well-known Chilean sports media outlet.
This tactical maneuver aligns with Polaris’s objective of becoming a dominant player in the Latin American sports media industry. This acquisition follows closely on the heels of Polaris’s venture into the UK market with the purchases of MrFixitTips and SportsMole.co.uk in the preceding month.
AlAireLibre.cl, a familiar name in Chilean sports reporting, is recognized for its extensive coverage, especially its emphasis on the Chilean national soccer team. The brand was initially founded in 2018 and managed by Grupo Cooperativa.
This acquisition further bolsters Polaris’s holdings in Latin America, which already encompass Lakersbrasil.com, obtained in April 2023, and collaborations with several prominent Brazilian football fan websites, such as NotciasDoMengao.com.br (Flamengo), PortalDoSaoPaulino.com.br (São Paulo), and PortalDoPalmeirense.com.br (Palmeiras), secured later that same year.
Julien Josset, co-founder of the Polaris Network, conveyed his excitement regarding the acquisition, remarking, “We are incredibly appreciative of the Grupo Cooperativa team for their confidence and commitment. AlAireLibre is a premier brand in Latin American sports media, and we are certain that by collaborating closely with the current team and utilizing our internal knowledge, we can elevate it to even greater levels of success.”
Cooperativa’s top dog, Luis Ajenjo, was visibly happy with the arrangement. He commended North Star Network for their expertise and commitment during the talks, emphasizing the groundbreaking aspect of the pact. He extended his best wishes for their upcoming endeavor at AlAireLibre.cl.
Simultaneously, in Brazil, the sports wagering landscape is intensifying. As the legal structure finally solidifies, the market is primed for opportunity. President Lula granted approval for legal sports wagering in July, and regulations have been unveiled since then. Even the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has given its endorsement. It appears Brazil is ready for action!
