The potentially exposed information encompasses names, communication details, dates of birth, Social Security numbers (although in an encrypted format), account identifiers, and specifics regarding transactions conducted on BetMGM. The precise data compromised and the number of users impacted is not uniform.
BetMGM asserts that they initiated an investigation immediately upon detecting the breach and are collaborating with cybersecurity experts to ascertain the exact nature and extent of the incident.
Their awareness of the breach occurred on November 28, 2022, but they estimate the initial data access transpired as far back as May 2022.
Crucially, BetMGM affirms that there is no indication of compromised passwords or account balances, and their digital platform remains fully operational.
The CEO of BetMGM, Adam Greenblatt, underscored the company’s dedication to security and expressed regret for any disruptions arising from the event.
BetMGM advises users to exercise heightened vigilance regarding any unusual activity or unanticipated communications pertaining to their personal information. Additionally, they are providing two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to all impacted users.
