The Virginia Lottery, in collaboration with technology provider NeoPollard Interactive (NPi), has become the first lottery in the nation to run a fully cloud-based lottery program.

The Virginia Lottery has teamed up with NeoPollard for a cloud-based lottery.
Technical support includes NeoDraw, the main system for draw games, and NeoSphere, the player account management and marketing system. The integration also includes NeoPlay, the eInstants remote gaming server and its hosted games.

NPi stated that the shift to cloud hosting will significantly enhance the operational and ongoing maintenance efficiency of the Virginia Lottery’s iLottery program, which has been supported by NeoPollard since the launch of eSubscriptions in 2016.

“The Virginia Lottery is dedicated to providing our players with a top-notch experience,” said Kelly T Gee, Executive Director of the Virginia Lottery.

“By utilizing cloud technology to improve the scalability of our iLottery platform, we are demonstrating to our players that we prioritize a smooth and dependable iLottery experience, all of which ultimately supports our goal of raising funds for public schools.”

Scalable System

The Virginia Lottery is now able to broaden its online lottery program to handle the management of substantial jackpots and associated promotions and happenings, according to a statement from the provider.

“We acknowledge that with emerging and evolving technology, we must constantly enhance our offerings,” stated Doug Pollard, joint-chief executive officer of NPi. “By delivering our online lottery solutions via the cloud, we will be able to more effectively serve the Virginia Lottery and other online lottery programs backed by NPi. We appreciate the Virginia Lottery’s confidence in us to provide this cutting-edge solution.”

Joint-chief executive officer Morty Malul added: “Record-breaking jackpots in recent years have produced a surge in online traffic, emphasizing the need for online lottery programs to effectively handle player purchasing demands.

“By utilizing the unique improvements of cloud hosting, we can better support lottery clients as they endeavor to meet and surpass player expectations.”
