WatchandWager, a subsidiary of Webis Holdings, has extended its authorization to provide horse racing services in California. The two-year extension, granted by the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB), commences next year and concludes in 2022. This enables WatchandWager to keep accepting online wagers from California residents.
The firm stated that the renewal signifies its continued access to the most populated state in the U.S., while also positioning it to expand into sports wagering once regulations are enacted.
Webis also holds a long-term lease on the California Exposition & State Fair racetrack, implying it offers land-based betting alongside its online operations.
“We are thrilled to receive this crucial license renewal for WatchandWager from the California Horse Racing Board,” remarked Ed Comins, president of WatchandWager. “We are confident that the tax revenue, income, and employment generated by this license will be a substantial benefit to California, particularly in the face of the economic challenges brought about by the California wildfires and the coronavirus.”
Were thrilled to have secured this permit and be present at the California State Fair in Sacramento. We’re confident that legalized sports wagering will generate new employment opportunities, obligations, and tax income for the state, Cummins remarked. “WatchandWager is prepared to collaborate with the state to bolster horse racing and gaming, and aid California in its recovery.”
