W88 has inked a new top-flight sponsorship agreement with Burnley. This marks the fifth jersey sponsorship deal W88 has secured with a Premier League team.
The one-year pact will encompass the 2023-24 campaign, featuring the W88 logo prominently on the front of the players’ kits for both the men’s and women’s squads.
The Asia-focused operator will also gain branding visibility surrounding the club’s Turf Moor ground and across their digital platforms.
W88 will further lend support to Burnley in community endeavors and projects, connecting with supporters and contributing to charitable endeavors.
Burnley will be gracing the Premier League stage in the 2023-24 season following their ascent from the Championship last year.
“This collaboration is truly significant for us as a newly promoted side, aiding us in our quest to compete in the Premier League,” remarked Stuart Hunt, Burnley director.
“W88 boasts a commendable history of fruitful partnerships with numerous Premier League teams and sports brands globally. We are deeply impressed by their expertise, insights, and proactive approach in this domain.”
“We are thrilled to join forces with Burnley as they make their return to the Premier League,” added Hili Ehrlich, W88 Business Development Manager.
Burnley has become the fifth top-flight English football club to ink a jersey sponsorship agreement with W88. The agreement will expire before a prohibition comes into force, as Burnley’s collaboration with W88 is only for a single campaign.
The English Premier League declared in April that clubs had consented to cease gambling sponsorships on game-day jerseys. This agreement was reached after this prohibition was declared.
The removal of jersey sponsorships will take effect at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. Arrangements with operators, regardless of whether they are existing partnerships or new deals, can remain in place until that date.
The Premier League also stated that it would collaborate with other sports to develop a new responsible gambling sponsorship code encompassing the entire professional sports sector.
Earlier this month, Aston Villa secured a jersey sponsorship deal with Asia-focused operator BK8. The agreement will endure until the end of the 2025-26 season, coinciding with the implementation of the ban.
Newcastle United has opted to reduce the scope of its deal with offshore operator Fun88. The brand has been a primary partner since the 2017-18 season, but will now concentrate on propelling the club’s expansion in Asia.
